Developing renewable energy resources has the potential to bring significant economic development, security and reliability benefits for communities and individuals in the state of Texas.  In order to help rural communities in Texas take advantage of these opportunities, the Rural Alliance for Renewable Energy (RARE) is holding this, the sixth in a series of forums around the state to help assure rural Texans get in on the opportunities.

  Explore the real options in large-scale and small-scale    wind, ethanol and biodiesel, solar electricity and water heating, and geothermal heat-pumps.

ACCOMODATIONS  
Arrangements have been made at the Best Western Palm Aire Hotel & Suites, 415 S. International Blvd., Weslaco (across the street from the east end of the Ag Research and Extension Center facility.)  The group guaranteed rate is $50.60 single, $56.60 double, $62.60 triple, $68.60 quad., per night.  For reservations call the Best Western at 956-969-2411.  Be sure to identify yourself as being with the Rural Alliance for Renewable Energy (RARE) group.  The block of rooms at the Best Western Palm Aire will be held until May 29, 2006.  On that date, the Best Western will release the unreserved rooms for general sale. Any reservations made after the cut-off date will be accepted on a space and rate available basis.

DIRECTIONS 
To A&M Agriculture Research and ExtensionCenter – Hoblitzelle Auditorium
(Site of Forum and Expo):  From Harlingen driving West on Highway 83, take FM 1015/International Blvd. exit and go South (left) on FM 1015 International to Business 83. Turn right on Business 83. The main entry gate on the south side of the TAES facility, which is opened at 7:30 am, will be on the right. The Hoblitzelle Auditorium is the first building on the right. Parking is available in lots around the building on the right hand side of the street. Entry onto the TAES facility may also be possible from a gate on the East end that opens onto FM 1015/International Blvd. if the gate is open, in which case the Hoblitzelle Auditorium will be on your left.  To Best Western Palm Aire Hotel & Suites   From Harlingen, exit Expressway 83 on International Blvd. and go South (left) on International. The hotel will be a short distance from Expressway 83 on the left. The East end of the TAES is across the street.
